Installing
AVG
Click Here to access the free version of AVG. It opens in a new window so you can switch
from one to the other as you follow the instructions.
You'll see the following screen:
*Note that as you do each action in the instructions,
it'll automatically bring you to the screen where
you do the next action.*
-
Click on the Download Now button.
-
After a short delay, a new, small window will open on your screen, which will look like this:

There are two buttons on this small window: Save File and
Cancel. Click on the Save File button.
A new window will open which shows the progress of the file download, in percentages, and with a
bar (see image):

When it has reached 100%, double click on the text avg_free_stf_en_85_number.exe to start installing the application. (The
word 'number' won't be there, but rather a real number which is different for everybody.)

Another new window opens telling you that opening executable files is risky, and the files may
contain a virus. In general if you ever see such a message, say no, and phone me for advice. However THIS ONE TIME
it is ok to click the OK button.

Now AVG will begin to install, and the screen while it does this looks like this:

Once it has installed the program will display a set of screns to help you setup the AVG software
and complete the installation.
The first screen is a simple welcome, so click Next.

This next screen is a standard screen to confirm that you accept the terms and conditions for the
use of the program. Click Accept.

Confirm the license agreement to
continue with installation by pressingAccept.

The following screen will then come up. You don't
have to do anything here - the computer is doing it. There maybe a small delay while it does its
thing.

Once the computer has done its thing, the following screen will display open asking you for the
license code. For the free version of AVG, the license code is automatically inserted, and all you gave to do is
click Next.

The next screen will then open, asking you if you want to install the AVG security toolbar in your
web browser. I have not found this to be particularly helpful, so make sure the small check box is clear and click
Next.

This next screen displays a brief summary of the install choices that have been made, so just click
Finish.

And that is it, the software is now installed. You will be taken through the First
Run Wizard, which will set up automatic scans and perform the first update of the system. You will need to be
connected to the internet for the next steps. Click OK to
continue.

FIRST RUN WIZARD
The first screen of this wizard is a simple welcome. Click Next.

AVG can scan your computer every day automatically. This next screen lets you set up the time you
want this scan to run. Pick a time when your computer is normally on. Please note, your computer will be slow to
use when a scan is running, so lunchtimes are normally good. Click Nextwhen finished.

This next screen allows the software to automatically notify AVG of any viruses that it finds while
you are protected. I normally click on the "Yes, I agree..." checkbox. (Part of the reason it's free is that AVG
gets to learn what new viruses are out there, so this is only fair.) Then click Next.

This next step involves the AVG software connecting to the internet and updating itself. In
normal use, this is done automatically, but this first step you have to confirm. Click Next.

While AVG is updating, the following screen will be displayed to indicate the progress.

The following screen is displayed when the update has finished. Click Next.

And that is it, AVG is now installed and ready to protect your computer. Click the
Finish button to close the wizard.

This should be simple and straightfoward. But if you have any problems, or if it seems too complex,
then by all means call me to do it for you on 086 804 4084. I'll do it along with cleaning and maintenance to make sure your computer
runs properly.
